Mettler-Toledo GPro 500 Gas Analyzers Achieve IEC 61508 SIL 2 and SIL 3 Certification

Mettler-Toledo's GPro 500 Gas Analyzers have been independently certified to IEC 61508 by Risknowlogy, achieving SIL 2 (HFT = 0) and SIL 3 (HFT = 1) through a Proven-in-Use assessment — confirming their reliability in high-demand safety applications.

Certification Achieved

The GPro 500 is a tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) gas analyzer used in demanding industrial environments. Its certification to IEC 61508 confirms that it meets the functional safety requirements for use in safety instrumented functions at SIL 2 and SIL 3 levels.

SIL 2 capability: HFT = 0 (single channel). SIL 3 capability: HFT = 1 (redundant architecture). Route: IEC 61508 Proven-in-Use certification.

What the Certification Confirms

The Proven-in-Use route validates that the GPro 500 has a demonstrated operational history with quantified failure data, supporting its claimed safety integrity levels. The certification was conducted independently by Risknowlogy, ensuring the evidence base is auditable and defensible.

For process industry operators and system integrators, this certification simplifies SIL verification and supports faster, more confident SIS design.

SIL 2 and SIL 3 capable — independently certified. Operators can integrate the GPro 500 into their SIS with full confidence.
