Risknowlogy — Final Element Assembly certified
Issued and certified by Risknowlogy — independent certification body for functional safety, operating according to IEC 61508 and IEC 61511.
Scope:

The BHDT high-pressure final element assemblies have been independently certified by Risknowlogy in accordance with IEC 61508:2010 and IEC 61511:2016, confirming their suitability for use as final elements in safety instrumented systems. The certificate, number 2628.664.16-0, is dated 2 October 2026 and carries an expiry date of 2 October 2031.

The certification covers nine configurations in two trains. Each is intended for high-pressure shutoff duties, closing the valve on demand in low demand mode, and each integrates a BHDT valve with a solenoid valve and actuator. Two configurations are specified with fast and slow closing variants.

The assessment covered the BHDT valves under IEC 61508 and the complete assemblies under IEC 61511, applying Risknowlogy's structured functional safety methodology: hardware integrity, reliability, basic safety, functional safety management, and user documentation. Each assembly has a single-channel (1oo1) architecture.

All configurations are Type A subsystems. Based on the assessed failure data and architectural constraints, each is fit for use in SIL 1 safety functions at HFT = 0 and in SIL 2 safety functions at HFT = 1; two of the nine also reach SIL 2 at HFT = 0, in accordance with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511.

This certification covers the final element assemblies, not the safety instrumented function or system in which they are used. End users, EPCs and system integrators remain responsible for correct design of the safety function and for installation, commissioning, validation, operation, proof testing, maintenance and repair in line with BHDT's instructions. Safety-critical components can only be replaced like for like, and modifications require re-verification, re-validation and recertification.

The detailed certification basis, safety functions, conditions of use, and end-user responsibilities are defined in the Risknowlogy certificate 2628.664.16-0 and the supporting certification report 2628.664.15.
