Risknowlogy — Valve certified
Issued and certified by Risknowlogy — independent certification body for functional safety, operating according to IEC 61508 and IEC 61511.
Scope: BHDT high-pressure valve 1231349 has been awarded an independent functional safety certificate by Risknowlogy in accordance with IEC 61508:2010. The certificate confirms the valve meets the applicable requirements for use as a final element within safety-instrumented functions.

The valve is designed to deliver tight shutoff in high-pressure chemical and petrochemical duty. Working in low-demand mode, valve 1231349 performs the safety function of closing on demand within a defined response time. It is integrated into a final element assembly alongside an actuator, a solenoid, and the supporting pneumatic components.

Certification was carried out via compliance route 1H. Risknowlogy evaluated the valve's failure modes, failure rates, and architectural constraints against IEC 61508 under that route. Valve 1231349 is classified as Type A hardware — its failure behaviour is predictable and well characterised — and its design proceeds from an established BHDT concept with documented operational history.

The assessed failure data together with the applied route show that valve 1231349 is fit for SIL 1 safety functions at HFT = 0 and for SIL 2 safety functions at HFT = 1, consistent with IEC 61508. The valve is individually certified under number 2628.653.14-1, issued 2026-06-09.

End users, EPCs, system integrators, and asset owners can take this certification as assurance that valve 1231349 may be integrated into safety-instrumented functions within a compliant functional safety lifecycle. Continued validity depends on the valve design remaining unchanged and on correct application, installation, operation, and maintenance by the end user. Responsibility for safe integration into the overall safety-instrumented system, for proof testing, and for lifecycle management under IEC 61508 is the responsibility of the end user.
