Issued and certified by Risknowlogy — independent certification body for functional safety, operating according to IEC 61508 and IEC 61511.
Scope: The Mütec MTP200 Series — comprising the MTP200i-SIL-OS, MTP200-SIL O2 LT and MTP200-SIL O2 ZR safety-related oxygen analysers — has been independently certified by Risknowlogy in accordance with IEC 61508. This certification confirms that the product family meets the applicable functional safety requirements for use as part of safety instrumented functions in industrial process applications.
The certification applies to safety-related oxygen concentration measurement and signal transmission within safety instrumented systems. The safety-related output combines the 4–20 mA analogue current signal and the alarm relay, which together transition the device to its defined safe state on detection of an internal fault or out-of-range condition. The MTP200 Series is suitable for use in both low-demand and high-demand mode safety functions.
The assessment was performed using Risknowlogy's structured functional safety methodology, addressing the requirements for hardware integrity, reliability, basic safety, functional safety management, and user documentation as defined by the applicable standards.
The MTP200 Series is classified as Type B hardware, reflecting its use of complex components with associated failure behaviour. Based on the assessed failure data, the MTP200 Series is fit for use in SIL 2 safety functions at HFT = 0, within the architectural constraints defined in the certificate. Use of both the analogue output signal and the alarm relay as defined in the safety function is a condition of the certification.
This certification provides end users, EPCs, system integrators and asset owners with confidence that the MTP200 Series can be integrated into safety instrumented functions as part of a compliant functional safety lifecycle.
Continued validity depends on the product design remaining unchanged and on correct application, installation, operation, proof testing and maintenance by the end user.
The detailed certification basis, conditions of use and end-user responsibilities are defined in the issued Risknowlogy certificate (18.658.3-4) and supporting assessment report (18.658.2).
