Job Title: Functional Safety Expert

Description:

At Risknowlogy, we seek a highly skilled and experienced Hardware Functional Safety Expert to join our team. As a Hardware Functional Safety Expert, you will play a critical role in the certification team. With your expertise, you will ensure the functional safety compliance of the electronic hardware designs of our clients according to international standards like IEC 61508, IEC 62061, ISO 26262 and more. You will collaborate closely with the client and the certification team to verify and validate safety-critical hardware components for various industries, including automotive, process industry, industrial automation, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough functional safety verifications associated with electronic hardware designs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards such as IEC 61508, ISO 26262, IEC 62061 or other industry-specific functional safety standards.
  • Perform functional safety analyses, such as FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), FMEDA (Failure Modes, Effects, and Diagnostic Analysis)
  • Perform probabilistic calculations with simplified equations, FTA, or Markov models.
  • Verify safety-related hardware architectures, including redundancy, fault tolerance, and diagnostic capabilities.
  • Write technical reports and support the certification manager with information for the certification report.
  • Develop fault injection test plans and witness fault injection testing.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in functional safety standards, technologies, and best practices, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong background in functional safety, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience with safety-critical hardware systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant functional safety standards, such as IEC 61508, ISO 26262, and other industry-specific safety standards.
  • Proficiency in safety analysis techniques, including FMEA, FMEDA, FTA and Markov.
  • Proficiency in safety-related hardware architectures, including redundancy, fault tolerance, and diagnostic mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with hardware verification and validation techniques, including fault injection and safety-related testing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
