In India, Risknowlogy conducts the following training programs, as public courses (where anybody can attend after paying the fee) as well as private courses (On site training for companies).

Public & Onsite Courses

The following courses are held from time to time, at various locations in India. Please refer to the Training Calendar events for the next upcoming one. They can be attended by any individual on his/her own or via their company/organization. The same courses can be arranged at an organization’s premises as a captive training program for their staff.

1. Functional Safety and SIL (One Day Workshop)

This intensive one day workshop enables you to learn all about Functional Safety and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) as applied in various industry sectors. Attendees will learn about the concepts of Functional Safety, Functional Safety in different industries & standards used in them, the Safety Lifecycle, Functional Safety Management, SIL Assessment (SIL Study), Designing & building the Safety System, SIL Verification & Validation, SIL Certification including how to read a SIL Certificate & Report, Cybersecurity aspects of Safety Systems.

  1. TUV Certified Functional Safety Certification Course (IEC 61511)
    The first ever Certified Functional Safety Professional course in the world, was designed and created by Dr. Michel Houtermans, founder of Risknowlogy, when he was at that time working with TUV. That was about 17 years ago and since then the concept has been copied extensively by other organizations.

However today this course as offered by Risknowlogy stands as the gold standard amongst all these courses and the extent of its acceptance and popularity has grown exponentially. In short, if you want to work in the industry as a recognized professional in Functional Safety, then you should do this course.

In India we have so far in the short span of the past five years (since Risknowlogy started the India operations) completed 22 batches, most of which were house full.

The IEC 61508 based course is for professionals who work with Safety Related Systems in the Process Automation, Automotive, Nuclear, Power and other domains. So if you are a design engineer developing a new Safety Logic Solver, or an actuated valve manufacturer who wants to build a HIPPS (High Integrity Pressure Protection System), or a maker of SIL certified Gas Detectors, or in similar roles, then this course is for you. So far in India this course has been held three times and attended by people working in Software companies, Defence related industries, manufacturers of Safety Systems and others.

4. Risknowlogy Certified SIL Verification & Calculations course

Imagine your company has been working on a major project and it’s now time to prove that the safety instrumented functions that you’ve designed, meet all the requirements of IEC 61511.

  • How do you do that?
  • How do you know your people did the work according to the standard?
  • How do you check the calculations?
  • And, crucially, how do you prove this to your customer?

This course will help you streamline your SIL verification processes. It will teach you how to demonstrate that SIFs are SIL compliant.

This course is an advanced one and pre-requisite is attending the TUV Certified Functional Safety Professional (either the 61508 or the 61511 based one).

All attendees will be given checklists that can be re-used in their own projects and limited time access to the Risknolwogy SIL Master Tool (SIL Calculation software). The examples in the course will include real life examples of verification of OPS (Overfill Prevention Systems) and HIPPS (High Integrity Pressure Protection Systems) among others.

Customer Onsite Courses

The following courses are held only at customer’s place for their own staff and not available as a public course.

1. FMEA Valve Workshop

This is a specialized workshop for the engineers of valve manufacturers and designers, to understand Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, as applied to their own valves, in order to design and manufacture products that can be used in safety systems compliant with IEC 61508.

2 Software Requirements of IEC 61508

This is a specilaized workshop for Industrial Software designers to learn the various aspects as outlined in Part 3 of IEC 61508. This is useful if your company is involved in designing a safety device that is classified as a Type B device. Examples include software components for use in actuators, sensors, transmitters, medical devices or logic solvers.

3. Risknowlogy Certified Functional Safety for Railway Professionals (EN 50126 and EN 50128)

This course is designed to be taken by Railway engineers who need to know about Functional safety as applied in the Railway industry, according to standards EN 50126 and EN 50128
