About the Author

Dr. Michel Houtermans has close to 20 years of experience in functional safety. He got first exposed to functional safety when he had to do his practical while studying Mechanical Engineering. Later he also got a Phd in safety and risk management. He worked for Factory Mutual and TUV SUD, wrote numerous papers on sil and functional safety and is often an invited speaker on conferences and oil&gas events.
