Risknowlogy Conducts Certification Course in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia

Buenos Aires, Argentina- – 25 November 2008 – – Risknowlogy®, a leading provider of risk, reliability, safety and certification solutions, announced today the successful realization of the first certification course in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, during 25 to 28 november 2008, from where several new TUV SUD certified functional safety professionals will emerge in the upcoming days.

“After the realization of five certification courses in Buenos Aires, since october 2006, where 29 functional safety professionals got their international certificates to date, Risknowlogy decided to reinforce its presence in the geographical centre of the LA region, where more and more functional safety professionals need to have the possibility to certify their knowledge in our native language” said Lic. Ricardo A. Vittoni, responsible in Argentina for Risknowlogy development in the LA region. Risknowlogy plans include several certification courses in Cartagena and in Buenos Aires during 2009.

The Risknowlogy Functional Safety Certification Course (FSCC) was developed for functional safety professionals and engineers in the process industry. The course is titled Functional Safety Certification Course (FSCC) – Functional Safety for Safety Instrumented Systems for Professionals and Engineer. Professionals passing the exam and meeting the eligibility requirements will receive a certificate from TÜV SÜD.

“Our FSCC courses are world wide a great success.” said Dr. Michel Houtermans, Risknowlogy’s founder and president. “The TUV SUD program exists since 1999. Over 2000 people have been certififed by TUV SUD of which over 400+ people have been trained by Risknowlogy.”

Participants wanting to register for trainings of the TUV Functional Safety Certification Program must have a minimum of 6 years experience in the field of functional safety. A BA, MS or PHD degree gives experience credit. The training course is presented over four days. The first three days of instruction are taught in a classroom setting and will provide participants with practical examples of theoretical details, accident videos, and practical case studies for understanding and mastering the requirements of IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 on functional safety. On the last day, applicants must pass a two-part examination with a minimum score of 75 percent.

Certificates will be issued by TÜV upon verification of eligibility and review of final exam documents. Successful participants will also receive a corresponding identification number and may use the “TÜV Functional Safety Professional” logo on their business cards. Successful candidates will be listed on the TUV SUD website at www.tuev-sued.de.
