Mütec Instrument achieves SIL 2 according to IEC 61508
ZUG, Switzerland — 16 February 2011 — Risknowlogy®, a leading provider of risk, reliability, safety and certification solutions, announced today that it completed a functional study on the MTP300i-SIL temperature transmitters. The type A temperature transmitter is used in the process industry.
Risknowlogy has performed a functional safety analysis according to IEC 61508 addressing functional safety management, hardware requirements, reliability requirements, and user documentation. The analysis demonstrated that the device can be used in SIL 2 application. The result are documented in a technical report and summarized in a Functional Safety Data Sheet(tm). The functional safety data sheets(tm) hold the most important functional safety properties including SIL, STL, mode, type, hardware compliance route, software compliance route, systematic capability, hardware fault tolerance, failure rates, diagnostic coverage and PFD and PFS values.
